Opioid Workgroup

Quarterly Opioid Workgroup meeting facilitated by MEPHC. Please feel free to extend an invitation to any of the stakeholders in your community working on the use of the opioid settlement funds. This work group is aimed at sharing resources and collaborating to maximize the use of opioid settlement funds throughout the MEPHC communities.  

Location: 600 Market Street, Second Floor, Lynnfield The meeting space is in the Market Street Shopping Centre.  Parking anywhere in the plaza is free. The facility is located in an office building between the Claire's and Lush and we'll be in the Lynnfield Media Studios on the second floor. During this meeting we will be joined by Ana Bess Moyer Bell, a Drama Therapist through 2nd Act.  2nd Act is a collective of artists in recovery which uses theatre, film, and drama therapy to address the impact of substance use. Together they empower diverse and inclusive communities to promote understanding in the face of stigma.   We will also share updates and resources with each other. MMA Alternative Response Teams: Building a Program That Fits your Community’s Needs webinar

The MMA will host a webinar on Dec. 9 spotlighting three “alternative response teams” throughout the state.

These unarmed community response programs, rooted in racial equity and trauma-informed practices, work to provide behavioral health support and resources to community members.

Attendees will hear about Lynn’s CALM Team, Cambridge’s Community Assistance Response and Engagement (CARE) Team, and Amherst’s Community Responders for Equity, Safety and Service (CRESS) team.

Panelists will include:

• Cambridge Community Safety Department Director Marie Mathieu
• Lynn Calm Team Program Administrator Abdel Razak Kawaf
• Lynn Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Faustina Cuevas

Presenters will give an overview of how each initiative operates, and how they differ in scope, funding, and staffing based on the community’s needs and resources. They will also discuss the importance of community buy-in when launching a similar program.

Online registration is available for the 75-minute webinar, which will begin at noon. Only MMA members may register. MMA members include elected officials and municipal employees from MMA member communities across the state. Media members are not permitted to attend.

July 13-17 (Virtual) This course explores how risk-based inspections can be applied in retail and food service establishments. Topics include the “process approach” to HACCP, applications of HACCP principles in routine inspection work, and assessing active managerial control of risk factors by operators through a HACCP system or other established food safety systems. While the process approach is new to many regulators, it is better designed for use in retail and food service settings than traditional HACCP approaches because it eliminates lengthy flow charting and hazard analysis for every type of food product. MEPHC Opioid Workgroup

Quarterly Opioid Workgroup meeting facilitated by MEPHC. 

Please feel free to extend an invitation to any of the stakeholders in your community working on the use of the opioid settlement funds. This work group is aimed at sharing resources and collaborating to maximize the use of opioid settlement funds throughout the MEPHC communities. We will also share updates and resources with each other. If you have any questions, please let me know! 

The meeting will be held at Lynnfield Media Studios, 600 Market St, Second Floor, Lynnfield. 

Directions and Parking:The Lynnfield Media Studios is located in the Market Street shopping center. The entrance to the building is situated between Claire's and Lush. You can take the stairs or the elevator to the second floor, and the studio will be the first door on the right. 

Parking at Market Street is free and does not have a time limit.
