The Shared Services Public Health Nurse provides a broad spectrum of essential healthcare services, disease surveillance, and preventative care to our member communities. By fostering regional collaboration and resource sharing, this role aims to prevent illness, promote health equity, and support local health departments across the region.

What the Public Health Nurse Can Help Your Community With
1. Disease Surveillance & Management (MAVEN)
Public health nursing is pivotal in disease management and outbreak prevention. The regional nurse is available to assist local boards of health with:
- Active Case Investigation: Hands-on disease surveillance, contact tracing, and implementation of local control measures.
- Coverage Support: Providing seamless MAVEN coverage during staffing transitions or high-volume periods (Requesting MAVEN Coverage SOP available).
- Data & Reporting: Analyzing regional health data and compiling monthly infectious disease reports.
2. Clinical Services & Vaccine Clinics
The regional nurse provides clinical support to enhance local health department capacity:
- Vaccine Clinic Administration: Direct vaccine administration and clinical administrative assistance at local clinics.
- Pediatric Vaccine Requests: Processing school-required pediatric vaccine requests, including navigating the Haverhill Citizen Center VFC Vaccine Request SOP and localized SOPs.
- Public Messaging: Creating promotional flyers and public health messaging to drive clinic attendance.
3. Community Health Screenings
Keep your residents healthy and engaged with on-site clinical screenings:
- Blood Pressure Screenings: Accessible community-wide monitoring.
- Blood Sugar Screenings: Available for municipalities with a local waiver in place.
- Cholesterol Screenings: Available via our regional CLIA waiver.
- A1c Screenings: Available via our regional CLIA waiver.
Requestable Health Education & Programming
Member communities can request the public health nurse to design materials, host interactive health fair tables, or lead in-person presentations on a variety of public health topics:

Regional Collaboration & Resource Sharing
To ensure a unified approach to public health, the regional nurse also facilitates bi-monthly meetings with local public health nurses across the participating communities. These meetings serve as a hub for sharing resources, streamlining onboarding toolkits, compiling case response guides, and coordinating regional workgroups (such as the Regional Opioid Workgroup).
